Internationally renowned photographers Tim Navis + Kim Høltermand have started a new project with film collective Scenic Studio and composer Deru. They’ll set out on a journey to explore the remote and beautiful countryside of Iceland to document their experiences with the landscape, residents and traditions. The end result, a beautifully packaged box set of the film and companion soundtrack, will be released to backers of the project as a physical artifact of the unique and awe-inspiring experience.
Tim + Kim will film at various locations throughout the island, inspired by moments of discovery and chance occurrence.. Scenic will edit the series into short films, featuring an original score by Deru and a full-length soundtrack (the first single is available now) featuring contributions from select musicians and contemporary composers.
Well well, we’ve neared what is the warmest time of the year (typically) in the Western Hemisphere. It’s the end of July, it’s August long weekend and there are a number of reasons for you to be outside with your friends, or outside alone, basking in the wonderful rays from that orb in the sky we call the sun.
A Summer Sessions Mixtape will go perfectly with your outdoor adventures, whether you’re on that annual camping trip, looking to go for a hike through some beautiful woods, or even on the patio with a few besties for a BBQ. And always remember, the key difference between a Mixtape and a Mixcast is this Mixtape is 100% music with no vocal interruptions. Awesome.

I was recently turned on to Anorak London (formerly Scruffy Bird PR), a PR and marketing group from, wait for it, London, when my friend Ryan posted a new Clock Opera remix this past week. I searched the groups SoundCloud and greedily gobbled up all the downloadable tracks and have been listening to them since. Great songs, all of them, including this track “The Fear of Charlie Sunrise” by Baby Monster. I recently spied my friends at BigStereo post the video and am pleased to share it with you!
These photos taken by Ryan Davis — from a shoot for a print publication that, sadly, never ran — were recently posted in his blog, What He Wears. It was shot on Rockaway Beach in New York on a very cold April evening. They’re raw and full of contrast, Davis crushed the blacks in these ones and I love his style.

I’m happy to see Cutting Edges, curating these contemporary takes on vintage (found) imagery, featuring a new take on old design. Incidentally, I’ve come across some of these pieces on fffound before, I would love to get my hands on a copy of this tome for myself. With work by Jelle Martens, Anthony Zinonos, Eduardo Recife and more, the book is pure eye candy.
Okay so I’m definitely not on top of this, but I am definitely looking forward to the new M83. I feel like it was just the other day I found myself wondering, “when the fuck, Anthony Gonzalez?!” it turns out ‘when’ was soon. Last month ilovem83.com was updated with this teaser for the upcoming album.
Hello, hello, hello! Happy Friday (and thank god!) it’s a perfect day to listen to new old music! This is going to be a classy mix, every track except the one by Tame Impala was written and performed before 1969 (even though Deep Purple covered Hush and Hendrix covered All Along the Watchtower) and there is a reason for piecing all these psychedelic-rock outfits together. This Mixcast, we’re celebrating hookah culture! Getting together with friends and having a social experience. Chatting, catching up, sitting together and actually communicating. Like all things in life, this experience requires a soundtrack and I happen to have just the sounds I associate with it to share with you! So sit back and relax like you’ve never relaxed before, artists featured this Mixcast are:
I was recently approached by friends & musicians We Are The City about a new website. They had a short, simple request, “We don’t want as much clutter… …we like far more simple.” I had been following their latest release, the High School EP, and had thoroughly enjoyed Andy & Aidan Knight’s take on their design for the CD/Vinyl and splash page and was pretty sure we were on the same page when they said ‘simple’. After a few sample sites, we agreed on the look for this one.
Borrowing inspiration from their release, we stuck with the bright red colour because it stood out, and we all loved it. Something I’ve always loved about the boys is their quirkyness and how often you can turn around into a pair of open arms just about anywhere in BC and it’s usually theirs. They randomly show up everywhere and I used this concept literally for their site by incorporating random stills from their music video for Happy New Year, the first single off the EP.
The boys video page needed something special. Having a close relationship with Vancouver production company Amazing Factory means the boys are always making videos. Like, always. Keeping the page updated and organized was key to deal with the large amount of content they wanted to release to their fans. They also Tumbl frequently so it was important to both incorporate their Tumbls into the News feed and for fans to see their questions to the band in a different sort of environment than many other musicians websites.
Andy also mocked up this fantastic page for displaying their full 26 minute High School continuous music video that I helped to code for the new site. A breathtaking video series containing a video for every song on High School, this was an inspired undertaking. Meant to be presented all together, much like you’d sit down to listen to a vinyl record, they belong as one collective piece.
All in all, as always, it was a complete pleasure to collaborate with We Are The City on this site, they brought so much to the table and the result is an amalgamation of ideas and a site we all came together to make.
I’m happy to say we’re back with Faked Potatoes Mixcast No. 021. I was going to go for a Electro/French House themed Mixcast this time around, but lately I’ve been feeling like yeah, we’ve done that… a few times. Luckily, the last few days have been a bit chillier at night but still perfect to drive with your windows down, and perhaps enjoy a little Folkier music. So that’s what this is, some folky songs I’ve started to remind myself I have. Hopefully you enjoy these musicians, Artists featured this Mixcast are:
Christopher Nolan, director of the Batman reboot franchise (and other amazing movies) has done some great work with one of my favorite superhero’s. I’m also glad to report that the teaser posters for each film has been equally as charged as the movies. I’ve really enjoyed the re-imagining of the Bat symbol in all of these and also the subtlety with which it’s used in the films.
I just got back from the coast where, on July 1st we kicked off Year 3 of the PEAK Performance Project. We held our orientation for the new Top 20 artists (the best in British Columbia) at Surrey Canada Day where, throughout the day, a crowd of over 100,000 people came to enjoy their live performances. As always, it’s a pleasure to be involved and meet such creative individuals. I filmed and edited this piece.
A video & a few shots from a new San Diego-based line, Favorite Pastime. So far, there isn’t a whole lot to show for the line, which isn’t to say they lack the essentials. It’s short and sweet, almost minimal which is always something I can appreciate. Started by Mat Crossan and inspired by the nostalgia of care-free days of skating, surfing and generally being in the sun until the street lights came on, but updated for those of us who are old enough to not be called for dinner. I’m looking forward to more from this line.
